The Monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands on the heights overlooking Cuenca, its open-armed statue watching over the clifftop city as both a religious landmark and a beloved viewpoint. Reachable on foot from the old town or by a short drive, it suddenly opens up a sweeping panorama of the Hanging Houses, the cathedral and the winding Huecar valley, at its most dramatic at sunset.
