David Dunlap Observatory
The David Dunlap Observatory sits on Observatory Hill in Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto, Canada. Opened in 1935, its 1.88-metre reflecting telescope was then the second largest in the world and remains the largest optical telescope in Canada. Built with funds from the family of mining magnate David Alexander Dunlap, it was run by the University of Toronto until 2008 and is now owned by the town of Richmond Hill, which hosts open houses and public stargazing nights.
