Amalfi's icon — pastel cliff town, turquoise bay & sea terraces

📍 Destination Overview

Positano is the most famous resort of Italy's Amalfi Coast, a pastel-coloured village layered on a sheer cliff, houses spilling down to the blue Mediterranean. With barely any level ground, steps and lanes link sea-view terraces and the rainbow-umbrella beach. A film setting too, its lazy southern passion and gorgeous seascapes bewitch every visitor.

🎯 Positano Experiences

Beach day

Sea views
The town from offshore.
Hill hike
Panoramas from the heights.
Sundowner
Watch the sun sink.
Positano is best in May–June and September–October, with good swimming water and lighter, friendlier-priced crowds; July–August can overwhelm with heat and visitors, while winters are calm if cool. A classic day swims at the main beach, takes a boat along the cliffs past turquoise coves and pastel houses, then climbs to a ridge or cliff-top restaurant for one of Italy's most celebrated sunsets. With stairs for streets, travel light and wear comfortable shoes. As one of the Amalfi Coast's most photogenic towns, it runs upscale — busier and pricier in high season — but the cliff-and-sea romance is worth it. Pastel walls, blue bays and lemon scent form Positano's timeless picture.
