The Greek Theatre, built in the 3rd century BC, uses sea and volcano as its natural backdrop, one of the world's most spectacular ancient theaters. The old town's lanes hold boutiques and cafés, and a cable car reaches Isola Bella. Goethe called it a fragment of paradise.
