Designed by architect Michael Hopkins and completed in 1990 for the celebrated British cutlery designer David Mellor, the cylindrical structure of local stone and steel won multiple architectural awards. It houses a museum shop and working factory for Mellor's handmade knives and kitchenware, set within landscaped gardens.
