No.1
Pingo National Landmark
Pingo National Landmark, near Tuktoyaktuk in the Northwest Territories, protects one of Canada's most famous concentrations of pingos, ice-cored hills, with the highest rising about 49 metres above the tundra. Pingos form when groundwater freezes and expands under permafrost, creating remarkable dome-shaped Arctic landforms. A viewing boardwalk lets visitors appreciate these spectacular hills.

Ice road on the Mackenzie River
The ice road on the Mackenzie River once linked Inuvik and Tuktoyaktuk in winter, closing to heavy truck traffic each year from December to March over frozen river ice and the Arctic. It closed permanently in April 2017 and was replaced by the year-round Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway, which opened in November 2017.
