Dead Sea Travel Guide

The Dead Sea is a huge inland salt lake at the lowest point on Earth (its surface about 430 m below sea level). Its salinity is nearly ten times that of seawater, giving enormous buoyancy so you can effortlessly lie back and float while reading - a must-try, fun experience. The lake water and shore black mud are rich in minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and bromine; applying the mud is said to nourish the skin, and with high air oxygen and a warm dry climate, it has been a famous spa destination since ancient times. Winter and spring (Nov-Mar) are warm and pleasant; the low-lying rift summer is scorching (40°C) and the midday sun should be avoided. Do not let the salt water into your eyes or swallow it, care for wounds, and rinse with fresh water after floating.
