Aqaba is Jordan's only Red Sea coastal city; autumn–winter–spring (Oct–May) is pleasant, Jun–Aug is hot (great for cooling off in the water), and the Red Sea is diveable almost year-round. Gorgeous coral reefs, tropical fish and seabed wrecks make it a diving and snorkeling paradise with very high visibility. From the shore you can see the coasts of Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Saudi Arabia at once. It is the southern gateway to Wadi Rum and Petra.
