The USS Midway Museum is a real aircraft carrier moored at Navy Pier in downtown San Diego. Commissioned in September 1945, Midway was the longest-serving US carrier of the 20th century, seeing action in the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm before being decommissioned in 1992 and opening as a museum in 2004. The flight deck, hangar bay, bridge and berthing compartments are open to visitors, with more than 60 exhibits and over 200 restored aircraft and helicopters on display. A self-guided audio tour (including Mandarin) walks guests through life and operations aboard a floating city at sea, making it one of the most popular carrier museums in the United States.

Coronado Beach, located on the western side of Coronado Island at the entrance to San Diego Bay, stretches for approximately 2.4 kilometers and is one of the most celebrated urban beaches on the American West Coast. The beach is known for its fine silvery quartz sand that takes on a distinctive metallic sheen in sunlight, earning it the nickname "Silver Strand." Facing the open Pacific with gentle to moderate surf, the beach is ideal for family swimming and beginner surfing. The northern end of the beach is adjacent to the legendary Hotel del Coronado, the 1888 Victorian red-roofed wooden structure featured in the film "Some Like It Hot," providing the beach's most recognizable landmark backdrop. Belmont Park is a historic oceanfront amusement park on Mission Beach's boardwalk in San Diego, opened July 4, 1925 as the 'Mission Beach Amusement Center' — one of the West Coast's oldest. Its star is the Giant Dipper, a 1925 wooden coaster by Prior & Church, one of only two large wooden scaffolded coasters left on the West Coast; it was listed on the National Register in 1978 and became a National Historic Landmark in 1987. After decline and demolition threats, restoration of the coaster in 1990 helped rebuild the park into a beachfront dining, shopping and entertainment complex. Entry is free; rides are ticketed.
