Bathurst is the oldest inland town in New South Wales, founded in 1815, 200 km west of Sydney. It is famous above all for the Mount Panorama circuit, a 6.2 km track hosting the Bathurst 1000 and 12 Hour races — the shrine of Australian motorsport. The town also keeps its 1851 gold-rush heritage, and the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum shows dinosaurs.
