📍 Destination Overview
Mirissa, about 15 km west of Matara on Sri Lanka's south coast, is a laid-back town on a crescent, coconut-fringed beach. From November to April, blue whales, sperm whales and dolphins gather offshore, making it the country's best whale-watching spot on early-morning boats. Turtles nest at the beach's west end, and each dawn the harbour sells fresh tuna straight off the sand.
