Isalo National Park, southern Madagascar's most famous sandstone park, is often called its Colorado. Wind and water have sculpted jagged peaks, deep canyons and colourful rock. Hiking trails thread the arid gorges, where hidden emerald pools and waterfalls from mountain springs offer cool swims amid the dry land; ring-tailed lemurs and Bara cliff burials are also found.
