Arslanbob is a mountain village in the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan, at about 1,600 metres in the western Tian Shan between the Fergana and Chatkal ranges. It is enclosed by the largest natural walnut forest on Earth - over 600,000 hectares of ancient trees that scientists believe may be the genetic origin of all cultivated walnuts. When the crop is harvested in September-October, the whole village turns festive. Hiking to the Big and Small waterfalls, woodland walks and CBT homestays are the core experiences here.
