Introduction
Lost Lagoon is the largest body of water in Stanley Park, Vancouver, close to the downtown side. When the Stanley Park Causeway was built in 1916, the original tidal mudflats were enclosed to form a freshwater lake, now covering about 16 hectares. A roughly 2-km trail rings the lake, making it an excellent spot for birdwatching and walking; the lake is home to ducks, swans, herons, turtles and other waterbirds, and the shore features the famous Jubilee Fountain and a sculpture commemorating Indigenous poet E. Pauline Johnson.
