Introduction
Fort Langley National Historic Site is one of Canada's most historically significant fur-trade posts, located by the Fraser River in the town of Fort Langley, east of Vancouver. In 1858 it became the capital of the newly created Colony of British Columbia and was an important gateway for British North American fur trading and the gold rush era. The reconstructed fort today features historic scene re-enactments, and visitors can take part in interactive demonstrations such as gold panning, blacksmithing, barrel making and cooking.
