Introduction
Landscape Arch in Utah's Arches National Park is the park's longest and most delicate sandstone arch — about 88 m across yet razor-thin, dubbed 'the world's most fragile wonder'. Eroded over millions of years, it's so thin a strong gust seems fateful; in 1991 a slab fell, closing the old path beneath it. The Devils Garden trail leads through pinyon and rock fins to the arch suspended above a dry wash, most stunning at dusk. It symbolises both geologic fragility and grandeur, and is a photographer's pilgrimage.
