Introduction
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health stands in the Symphony Park district of Las Vegas and is a flagship specialty branch of the Cleveland Clinic health system. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Frank Gehry and opened in 2009, the center focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, research, and care of neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. It was founded with the philanthropic support of the late Las Vegas businessman Lou Ruvo after his father suffered from Alzheimer's disease. The building's signature stainless-steel wave-like roof evokes the folds of the human brain and the flow of thought, making it one of the few Las Vegas landmarks that fuse world-class medical research with landmark contemporary architecture.
