Introduction

The Swann Memorial Fountain stands at the center of Logan Circle in Philadelphia. Built in 1924 by sculptor Alexander Stirling Calder, it memorializes Philadelphia physician Wilson Cary Swann. The fountain features three Native American figures symbolizing the city major waterways, the Delaware, Schuylkill and Wissahickon, with water jets surging around the sculptures.
