Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
Introduction
Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a horticultural gem in East Portland, located within Crystal Springs Garden, covering over 9 acres, and is one of the most spectacular rhododendron specialty gardens in the Pacific Northwest. Founded in the 1950s and carefully cultivated over decades, the garden houses over 500 rhododendron varieties, from petite dwarf rhododendrons to tall and stately tree rhododendrons, with flower colors spanning pure white, pink, crimson, violet, and even rare yellow and orange. During the blooming season from April to May each year, the entire garden is immersed in a sea of flowers, with layered blossoms like colored clouds covering the branches, complemented by babbling streams and lush native trees, making it an ideal destination for spring flower appreciation. The garden is also home to various wild birds and ducks, with koi swimming leisurely in the streams, adding vitality to the serene garden. Open to the public free of charge, it is a beloved spot for Portland residents' weekend walks and family picnics.
