Snoqualmie Falls

Introduction

Snoqualmie Falls, about 50 kilometers east of Seattle on the Snoqualmie River, plunges 82 meters and is one of Washington state most famous natural wonders, also the iconic image recurring in the 1990s TV series Twin Peaks. The falls carry abundant year-round flow, cascading like a white ribbon, with mist drifting over 100 meters, cooling visitors on the viewing deck from afar. Upstream, the river rises from Cascade Range snowmelt, clear and cold, flanked by dense Douglas fir and western red cedar, a classic Pacific Northwest temperate rainforest. The site offers two viewing decks: the upper deck is a short walk from the parking lot and accessible to all; the lower deck requires about 200 wooden steps down for a closer, more powerful experience. Nearby Snoqualmie Point Park offers a high vantage over the falls and valley, a photographer favorite. The adjacent Salish Lodge and Spa is a refined mountain retreat where one can enjoy tea by a fireplace overlooking the falls. Flow peaks in the rainy autumn-winter, while spring-summer brings fresh green, beautiful in every season.
