Introduction

Gibbon Falls is an elegant and accessible waterfall in Yellowstone National Park, located along the western section of the Grand Loop Road. The falls drop about 26 meters and are named after the 19th century explorer and officer John Gibbon. Water cascades from gray-white volcanic rock walls into the clear Firehole River, surrounded by green pine forests and rolling mountains, forming a classic Yellowstone landscape painting. Unlike other Yellowstone waterfalls that require long hikes, the Gibbon Falls viewing platform is right beside the road, requiring only a few steps to see the full waterfall, making it a must-stop on a Grand Loop driving tour.
