Introduction

Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, opened in 2000, is the largest aquarium on the Las Vegas Strip, holding 1.3 million gallons of seawater and themed around a shipwreck for an immersive ocean experience. The facility houses more than 2,000 animals across over 100 species, including sharks, rays, sea turtles, crocodiles, jellyfish, and rare Komodo dragons. The centerpiece is a glass tunnel through a massive shark tank, where visitors walk beneath the sea alongside sawfish and nurse sharks at close range. Accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the facility combines entertainment and education with regular feedings and behind-the-scenes tours, making it an ideal family escape from the desert heat and a chance to experience the mystery of the ocean in the heart of Las Vegas.
