Introduction

Sun Moon Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in Taiwan, China, nestled among the mountains of Yuchi Township, Nantou County. It takes its name from its shape: the northern part of the lake resembles a solar disc (Sun Lake) while the southern part curves like a crescent moon (Moon Lake), divided by Lalu Island. The lake's circumference is about 33 kilometers, ringed by lush green peaks and mirror-calm water. A misty morning haze and golden evening glow give it different faces through the four seasons.
