Introduction
Jōju-in (Fumyōzan) is a Shingon temple in Kamakura founded in 1219, its main image Fudō Myōō and its tradition linked to Kōbō Daishi. The stone approach is lined with 262 hydrangeas — one for each character of the Heart Sutra — and in June the blue slope frames Yuigahama Bay, making this one of Kamakura's signature hydrangea spots.
