Introduction
Prague Castle is Prague's and the Czech Republic's most important and celebrated landmark, perched on the Castle Hill west of the Vltava and one of the world's largest ancient castle complexes, the undisputed crown of the City of a Hundred Spires. Founded in the 9th century and built and expanded over more than a thousand years, blending Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles, it long served as the seat of Bohemian kings, Holy Roman Emperors and today's Czech president, witnessing a millennium of Czech history.
