Introduction
Sipán, near Lambayeque in northern Peru, is a Moche ceremonial site where the tomb of the 'Lord of Sipán' (El Señor de Sipán) was found in 1987 — an unlooted royal burial of ~250 AD with dazzling gold, silver and jade, among the richest intact royal tombs in the Americas.
