Introduction
The People's Palace stands on the eastern side of Glasgow Green in Scotland, a museum telling the social history of the city. The building is Victorian, its red sandstone facade joined to a glass conservatory, and its exhibits, photographs and objects present the life of Glaswegians, labour history and the city's changes from the eighteenth century to the present. The Winter Gardens conservatory beside it stays warm year-round and holds many plants, a good place to rest. Set within Glasgow Green, it is surrounded by open lawns suited to a stroll. Within walking distance of the centre, admission is usually free, and an hour or two gives a good sense of the city's everyday past.
