Introduction

Cape Tribulation lies at the northern end of Daintree National Park, where two rare World Natural Heritage sites—the ancient Daintree tropical rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef—meet side by side, with the lush rainforest reaching the white sandy beach and the blue ocean edge, a unique landscape. Named by Captain Cook, whose Endeavour ran aground nearby—hence the name Tribulation. Visitors can walk the elevated rainforest boardwalk, climb a viewpoint to overlook the rainforest-meets-coast spectacle, or feel the primeval beauty on a secluded beach. Remote and with saltwater crocodiles, visiting needs caution; it is a secret place at the end of the ancient rainforest.
