Pinnacles, West Australia

📍 Australia, Western Australia, Nambung National Park, Pinnacles Desert
No photos yet

Introduction

The Pinnacles lie in Nambung National Park about two hours north of Perth, a desert wonder: on a golden desert plain, thousands of limestone pillars rise from the ground, tall and short, in all shapes, like a stone forest in the wild or the surface of another planet. These pillars were formed naturally over tens of thousands of years as shell sand weathered and interacted with plants. Visitors can drive the park loop road through the pinnacles or walk up close, and at sunrise and sunset the slanting light gilds the pillars and casts long shadows, a stunning sight. It is also a top spot in WA for wildflowers and stargazing.
