Roma Street Parkland
Introduction
In Brisbane's city centre beside the central station and Roma Street Transit Centre, Roma Street Parkland opened in 2001 as Australia's newest contemporary display garden, covering about 16 hectares and a winner of the international Green Flag Award. It features the Spectacle Garden, vast Celebration Lawn, a Rainforest Walk and several reflective lakes, all maintained by a knowledgeable team of staff and volunteers. The parkland is free and open to visitors 24 hours a day, with children's playgrounds, barbecue and picnic areas, a cafe, and free guided tours, making it a green oasis close to the heart of the city.
