The not-for-profit, volunteer-staffed South Australian Aviation Museum (SAAM) at 66 Lipson Street, Port Adelaide, displays aircraft and aero engines relevant to South Australia and to Australian aviation. Around 27 significant aircraft are exhibited in covered hangars, and you can climb into the cockpits of most. There are also many engines, propellers, technical books and aviation memorabilia on show. The museum is also the home of the heritage rocket collection of the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, and sits close to the state's rail and maritime museums.
