Introduction

Stirling Gardens is a small public park in Perth at the corner of St George's Terrace and Barrack Street, proclaimed a public garden in 1845 and regarded as the first public garden in Western Australia. It had earlier been used by colonial botanist James Drummond as an acclimatisation garden and served as Perth's botanic gardens until this moved to Kings Park in 1960.
