Introduction

Kamay Botany Bay National Park lies at La Perouse and Kurnell in southern Sydney, separated by the historic waters of Botany Bay. It was the historic landing point of Captain Cook in 1770 and of the French navigator Comte de Lapérouse, and preserves the deep Aboriginal heritage of the Dharawal people. With coastal cliffs, native scrub and heritage buildings, the park offers whale-watching from a lookout at Cape Solander, a coastal walk along Henry Head, and snorkelling around Bare Island.
