Introduction
Jenolan Caves are one of Australia's most spectacular and oldest cave systems. In the Blue Mountains, they feature exquisite stalactites, stalagmites and flowstone formations — possibly the world's oldest show caves (~340 million years). About 11 open caves. Lucas Cave (largest; "Cathedral" ceiling) and Imperial Cave (easiest). Exquisite formations — curtains, flowers and calcite crystals. Guided tours only; various difficulty levels. About 3 hours from Sydney. Visiting for 340-million-year caves is an amazing Sydney-area experience.
