Maroubra Beach is a broad, open surf beach in Sydney's eastern suburbs, known for its big, airy stretch of sand and excellent waves, and regarded as one of Sydney's most popular surf beaches. In 2006 its northern headland area was declared New South Wales's first 'surfing reserve'. The beach is patrolled year-round by Randwick City lifeguards, with volunteer surf lifesaving clubs on duty on summer weekends.
