Introduction
The Kasbah Museum - also known as the Museum of Moroccan Arts - occupies the former sultan's palace Dar el Makhzen inside Tangier's kasbah, whose 15th-century walls still crown the highest point of the old town. Inside, Moroccan carpets, ceramics, weapons, coinage and Andalusian instruments sit alongside Roman-era mosaics, a compact survey of the country's decorative arts. The ramparts are half the appeal: from them you look straight across the Strait of Gibraltar to the Spanish coast, and the lanes below Bab El Bahr reward a wander.
