Durban North Japanese Gardens

Introduction

Durban North Japanese Gardens is one of the most exquisite urban gardens in KwaZulu-Natal, built through cooperation between Durban and its Japanese sister city, embodying the essence of Japanese garden art. The garden covers about 5 hectares, blending traditional Japanese garden design elements including arched bridges over streams, stone lanterns, tea houses, cherry trees and carefully pruned bonsai. The most famous feature is the central artificial lake with a red arched bridge, poetically reflected on the lake surface. The garden plants various Japanese characteristic species, particularly beautiful when cherry blossoms bloom in spring. Tranquil and elegant, it is a popular spot for walking, meditation, photography and weddings, and a vivid expression of Durban multicultural integration.
