Introduction
Arktikum, on the banks of the Ounasjoki river in Rovaniemi, opened in 1997 to a design by Danish architects: a glowing glass corridor shooting toward the river like a tunnel to the Arctic, with half the building sunk beneath the ground — an Arctic building in its own right.
