The Namur Citadel crowns the hill where the Sambre meets the Meuse—one of Europe's largest star-shaped fortresses. Its defenses evolved from Roman and medieval origins through 17th-century Vauban-style rebuilding, with layered bastions stepping down the slope above the confluence. Today the citadel is a green lung and open-air museum: visitors stroll ramparts, tunnels and viewpoints, appreciating military engineering while gazing over Namur's red-roofed old town and the winding rivers. In summer it hosts light shows and music festivals—a landmark blending history, scenery and leisure.

The Musée Félicien Rops in Namur is devoted to the Belgian artist Félicien Rops (1833–1898), who was born in the city. Housed in an old townhouse, it holds his etchings, drawings, paintings and letters, with particular strength in his graphic and illustrative work. Rops is regarded as an important figure in Symbolist and fin-de-siècle art; he produced illustrations for works such as Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du mal, and his subjects are often satirical and boldly imaginative. The display is modest and takes about an hour, making it easy to combine with the old town of Namur and a walk along the Meuse.
