Vieux Lyon
Vieux Lyon, on the west bank of the Saone at the foot of Fourviere hill, is among Europe's largest and best-preserved Renaissance quarters, inscribed with UNESCO in 1998 as the heart of the city's World Heritage site. Ochre and honey-stone mansions line narrow lanes, hiding 15th-17th century courtyards, spiral staircases and arcaded galleries. Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière

Fourvière
Fourvière Hill is the birthplace of Lyon, France. At its summit stands the 19th-century Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière, resplendent in a Byzantine-Romanesque mixed style. The hill also preserves the ancient Roman theater ruins, once seating 10,000 and still used for performances today. Riding the funicular from the old town up the hill is a classic experience, and the summit overlooks all of Lyon and the confluence of the Saône and Rhône rivers. Fourvière combines religious heritage, Roman history, city panoramas, and funicular ride — Lyon's most representative composite attraction.

La place Bellecour
The red-ochre heart of Lyon's Presqu'île stretches about 312 by 200 metres, among Europe's largest pedestrian squares. An equestrian Louis XIV, cast in 1825, anchors the centre, while the southwest corner carries Antoine de Saint-Exupéry with his Little Prince - Lyon was the author's birthplace. Almost bare of greenery, the emptiness itself becomes the stage: skateboarders, carousels and markets take turns across the paving. Walk west for a few minutes and you reach the Saône and Vieux Lyon.

Parc de la Tête d’Or
Opened in 1856, Lyon's great urban park spreads across roughly 117 hectares and is routinely cited as one of France's largest. A sixteen-hectare lake anchors the middle, rentable pedal boats circling it; the free zoo is a French-family rite of passage, its African plain section showing giraffes and zebras across a water moat. The botanical garden's glasshouses and the rose garden carry their own fame, the latter hosting an international new-rose competition each year. The odd name comes from legend of a golden head buried in the lake.
