Turku Cathedral is the mother church of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland and a central national shrine.

The Aura River runs roughly 70 kilometres through the heart of Turku, Finland's oldest city, before spilling into the Archipelago Sea. Its gentle banks form the city's liveliest public space, linking Turku Cathedral with Turku Castle at the river mouth. In summer, wooden café boats line the waterfront and a vintage market fills the esplanade; in winter, the frozen surface becomes a walking route for locals.
