Mest’ia Travel Guide

Mestia, a mountain town in Georgia's remote Svaneti, famed for medieval stone towers, Caucasus peaks, and UNESCO heritage.

📍 Destination Overview

Mestia, deep in Georgia's Greater Caucasus at about 1,500m, is the center of the Svaneti region. Its most striking sight is hundreds of medieval defensive stone towers that, with the ancient villages, form a UNESCO World Heritage site; nearby Ushguli is one of Europe's highest settlements. Winter attracts skiers; summer draws hikers to the snow-capped glaciers.
