Bardejov Travel Guide

Bardejov is a superbly preserved UNESCO medieval town in northeastern Slovakia, right on the Polish border, best visited in spring, summer and autumn (May–Sep). Its core is a nearly intact rectangular medieval central square tightly ringed by colorful medieval burgher houses with Gothic and Renaissance gables - extremely photogenic. At the center of the square stand the majestic Gothic St. Giles Basilica (housing up to eleven precious medieval Gothic wooden altarpieces) and the elegant old Town Hall (one of Slovakia's earliest Renaissance buildings, now a museum). The medieval walls with towers and bastions encircling the old town are among the best-preserved fortifications in Central Europe; nearby is the Bardejov Spa. About 1.5 hrs from Košice.
