Nagoya Castle
Nagoya Castle was the seat of the Owari Tokugawa—head of the three Tokugawa branch houses—and ranks among Japan's three great castles with Osaka and Himeji. Atop its keep sit gilded dolphin-shaped ornaments called Kinshachi, gleaming in sunlight as the city's symbol. The original keep burned in WWII air raids; today's is a reinforced reconstruction with a museum, while the Honmaru Palace has been faithfully restored with gold-leaf sliding-door paintings. The cherry blossoms along the moat are lovely—allow half a day for Sengoku history and castle-town atmosphere.

Atsuta Jingu
Atsuta Jingu, in Nagoya, enshrines the Kusanagi sword, one of the three Imperial Regalia, and is among Japan's oldest and most revered shrines, with a history reaching back some 1,900 years. Its vast grounds are shaded by ancient trees; the main shrine, treasure house and the Nobunaga wall convey quiet dignity. Festivals and rites run through the year, and New Year visits draw huge crowds. The forest paths are a spiritual oasis in the city and a natural first stop for a blessing on any Nagoya trip.

Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium
Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, crowned by a distinctive white dome on Nagoya Port's Garden Pier, is one of the world's largest aquariums. The north building traces a journey across the Pacific from the icy Antarctic to the South Seas, while the south building recreates Japan's home waters with a huge orca pool and dolphin stadium. Daily shows featuring killer whales, dolphins and belugas pack the stands. Check the feeding and performance times on arrival to plan your route through the exhibits.

Founded by the Toyota Group on the birthplace of Toyota's loom works, the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology vividly charts the leap from textile machinery to automobile manufacturing. It preserves working automatic looms and early engines you can watch in motion, revealing the beauty of gears and the assembly line; the automobile wing displays landmark cars and hybrid tech, with hands-on areas to build models. It is the best classroom for Japan's monozukuri craftsmanship spirit and Nagoya's most enlightening industrial visit.
Museum
Tōgan-ji
A temple of the Myōshin-ji branch of the Rinzai Zen school in Kita ward, Nagoya, founded in the Edo period. The grounds are modest — old trees and timber halls arranged along an approach that keeps the intimate scale of a former residential-district temple. It is best known for the folk custom of the centipede memorial: legend holds that a plague of giant centipedes was subdued here, and a mound was raised in their memory, with rites still held each June. For most visitors it makes a quiet stroll in northern Nagoya, easily paired with the nearby Kurokawa neighborhood.

Inae Park (Inae Koen) is a large urban park in Nagoya's Minato Ward, facing Ise Bay. Opened in 1943 and now a sports-and-disaster-prevention park, it holds the Nagoya City Bird Observation Hall overlooking the Ramsar-listed Fujimae Tidal Flat, a noted spot for birdwatching and sea views.
