Eilat Travel Guide

Eilat is a resort city at Israel's southern tip on the Gulf of Aqaba, ringed by red desert mountains and facing the warm, clear Red Sea. It is sunny year-round; winter (Nov-Apr) is warm and pleasant (a hot spot to escape the cold elsewhere), while the desert-seaside summer is scorching (40°C) and the midday sun should be avoided. The Red Sea is one of the world's most developed coral reef areas; just offshore is a gorgeous underwater garden of coral and tropical fish, a famous diving and snorkeling paradise (there is also an underwater observatory to see the seabed without getting wet). The shoreline is lined with resort hotels, and the desert mountains behind offer the Red Canyon and the odd rocks of Timna Park to explore. When diving, protect the coral and do not touch it.
