San Blas, a small Pacific fishing port in Mexico's Nayarit founded by Spanish colonisers in the 1500s, is today one of the country's most unspoiled eco-towns. Its estuary mangroves host some three hundred birds; Las Boras and other beaches offer long sands for surfing, and boat trips explore jungle inlets for crocodiles and turtles. Grilled fish and ceviche are the seafood staples.
