Flores is located in the Peten region of northern Guatemala and in the Peten Itza Lake. It is a charming island city in the lake. It is connected to the lakeshore land through a causeway. It is the main gateway base for visiting the nearby world heritage Mayan ancient city Tikal. It is also a charming destination with its colorful island city style and tranquil lakeside atmosphere. The dry season is better from November to April. Although the island is not big, it has a unique style - the houses are painted in bright and colorful red, yellow, green and blue, and climb along the undulating terrain. Narrow cobblestone streets surround the island, and are dotted with church squares, restaurants, cafes and hotels, making it a lazy and cozy place. It is surrounded by the calm, open and sparkling Peten Itsa Lake, where you can walk around the island to watch the sunset over the lake and take a boat ride. It has a deep connection with the Mayan civilization since ancient times (it is believed to have been one of the last strongholds of the Maya Itza people). The most important player is the gateway to Tontical - most tourists depart from Flores and neighboring Santa Elena. The lowlands are hot and humid. GTQ Approximately equivalent.
