Introduction
Hanlan's Point Beach lies at the western end of the Toronto Islands and is one of the most famous beaches on the shores of Lake Ontario. Since 2002 a section of it has been officially designated a "clothing-optional" beach by the City of Toronto — one of only a few officially recognized such beaches in Canada — and it serves as an important leisure and gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community. The beach also retains a traditional swimwear area, with lifeguards on duty in summer.
