Introduction
Casa Nautilus stands in Naucalpan on the north-western edge of Mexico City, designed by architect Javier Senosiain as a landmark of "organic architecture". The house takes the spiral of a seashell as its model, almost entirely avoiding straight lines and right angles; a stained-glass shell façade throws sea-like patterns of light inside, floors undulate like dunes, and the staircase winds up along the curve of the shell. It is a private residence — visits must be arranged in advance and it cannot simply be walked into.
