Federal Reserve Bank
Introduction
The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta is the headquarters of the Sixth District of the Federal Reserve System, located in Midtown Atlanta in a building blending neoclassical and modern expressionist styles. Beyond its core functions of monetary policy, bank supervision, and cash distribution, the bank houses a public Monetary Museum, one of the few Federal Reserve facilities open to visitors for free. The most popular exhibit is the Million Dollar Display, where carts of real currency stacked into a wall let visitors grasp the physical volume of vast sums. The museum also displays historic American currency, counterfeit detection technology, and interactive monetary policy exhibits where guests can play at managing the economy and understand the balance of interest rates and inflation. Visits require advance reservation and ID, but offer deep insight into the US financial system, making it one of Atlantas most educational free attractions.
